It's fundraising time

Every year I tell myself that I will get better at this blogging stuff. Yet, here it is another year and I am still quite the slacker.

Just breathe for cory is back at it for another year of fundraising. I am determined to continue until it is done. Untill the day no parent has to know what it is like to bury their child from cystic fibrosis, until the day that no family member has to watch their loved one struggle to breath, miss holidays or events because they are in a hospital bed. Until every one currently living with cystic fibrosis can stand up and say “ I USE TO HAVE CF”.

This past winter, I attended several conferences that talked about the mission of the CFF and how close they are to a cure. When Cory was stil living, a cure wasn’t something of a reality. Life expetancy was in the teens, research was stalled. We were thankful to be part of era when they discovered the gene. It is through that discovery that has helped lead to where we are today. Today there has been the discovery of several drugs that target the different mutations of CF and these drugs target the underlying cause of CF. Everyday, I can open up the CF website and see more and more areas of research being reveiled. It is an exciting time toward finding the cure for CF. For the first time I know that I will be alive to see the end of this disease that has taken so much from me.

We brought out a new design in our T-shirt sales this year. The hoodies were a good addition, and loved by all that purchased one. We were significantly lower in our fundraising with the sales/money than in past years but we did end up raising over $800.00.

Our design will be seen in the stock car racing circuit. Cory’s good friend Dion has placed the design on his car in support of Cory. Check out it out….If you happen to make it to Farmer City race track, make sure to cheer on #2.

We will be back participating in cycle for life and Xtreme hike. Would love to have any of you participate with our team. As always, we still need lots of support so keep sharing our events, web page and support links
