CF Cycle for Life

I would like to first start by apologizing…I have not been very active with fundraising or keeping up with this blog…..I have a list of “excuses” but the bottom line is life was in the way. So lets move forward.

The next event is two weeks away. This event is the Cycle for Life. It is a 60 mile bike ride over 3 counties. It will prove to be a scenic and challenging route. I have enclosed the map of the route. If you happen to be along the route, feel free to come out and cheer us on, give us water ( or even a beer).

This event is an important event for me personally. Many of you reading this blog know that my uncle has participated in many bike rides. The last ride he did was a fundraiser. This fundraiser not only allowed me to stop working and care of for Cory but also provided for all of Cory’s end of life expenses. It was because of his will, his miles, and his love that we were able to give Cory everything he wanted all the way to the end. It allowed me to be by his side and spend 24/7 with him until his last breath. This is something I can never repay.

This is why I ride. The money being raised for cystic fibrosis allows someone else to breath. It might be a parent because the foundation has helped her provide medications that she could not afford, or research that allows the discovery of a new medication to improve the quality of life in a person with CF (I encourage you to check out the adventures of Jerry and Em, two amazing individuals with CF). Most importantly, I ride because I told Cory I would never give up…Never give up fighting for CF and never give up in life. I look in the mirror and tell myself this everyday.

So in two weeks, I take off to ride those 60 miles, but to help those suffering with CF, I need your help. I need you to donate to this cause. We are a LONG way from our goal. I have faced the idea that we might not make it. But what is important is that we keep raising money for CF. So I ask of you. Go to the website (www.justbreatheforcory.com) and choose an event ( We have three left) and donate, share with your neighbors, co-workers, boss, and local businesses. Challenge them to donate with them. Every amount helps!! Finally, keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I continue to train for this event and ride those 60 miles. Or for my husband who has endured all the training miles with me.
